MARKET NEWS

Welcome new grower Dances with Bees!

Dances with Bees in Norcross, GA is a small chemical-free beekeeping operation owned by Patti Parsons and Jay Parsons, a certified Master Beekeeper with apiaries in Gwinnett and Habersham counties. We specialize in gourmet and varietal honey products, pure beeswax candles and natural bath and body products handcrafted with quality ingredients which incorporate honey and beeswax from the hives. We are passionate about the honeybee and also work within the community to inform and educate the public about the importance of the honeybee in the food chain.

We are proud to announce that Dances With Bees apiaries are Certified Naturally Grown! To obtain this certification we must adhere to strict management practices that ensure our honey is as “organic” as possible.

Take a look at what they have listed!

**Thai Coconut Soup (Tom Kha) Recipe

Try this healthy, delicious and easy recipe at home. Pilar makes the same soup w/ lemongrass essential oil and chicken bone broth. This is a great light food for when you are down with a cold or on light diet.

Prep time: 10 mins Cook time: 10 mins Total time: 20 mins
Serves: Serves 2

Ingredients
14 ounces (420 ml) can full-fat coconut milk
2 cups (475 ml) chicken stock
1 pound (454 grams) shrimp or chicken breast
1 inch piece of ginger, peeled and sliced into rounds
1 cup sliced mushrooms
2 tbsp lime juice
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tsp sriracha (omit for Whole30)
Chopped cilantro for garnish

Instructions:
Prepare the shrimp by peeling and deveining if not already done prior to purchase. If using chicken, clean the chicken of any connective tissue and cut into small chunks.
In a pot over medium heat, combine the coconut milk, chicken stock and ginger. Bring the liquid to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer.
Add the shrimp or chicken, mushrooms, lime juice, fish sauce and sriracha. Simmer until the shrimp (less than 5 min) or the chicken (5 to 10 minutes) is cooked through.
Top with fresh chopped cilantro for garnish.

Six Ways To Naturally Help Relieve Symptoms of Allergies
by RanchoAlegre | Apr 7, 2015 | Blog, Natural Remedies |

Spring is a beautiful time of year. It’s full of warm weather and sunshine. But it can also be difficult for those who suffer from allergies. Here are some natural ways to help alleviate the symptoms of allergies.
Eat Local Raw Honey
raw honeyRaw unprocessed honey contains traces of pollen which can help allergy symptoms by regularly exposing you to pollen.
Raw honey can be purchased at Gwinnett Locally Grown!

Cook With Tumeric
Turmeric is a spice commonly used in curry and Indian cuisine, contains curcumin. It may act as a decongestant and help reduce allergy symptoms.

Rinse With Nasal Saline
Rinsing with Nasal Saline can help rinse and clean out your nose of any pollen or other allergens.

During Outside Activities, Wear Sunglasses and a Wide Brimmed Hat
Not only will you be stylish but you can also protect your eyes and face from environmental allergens.

Reserve Your Outdoor Activities to Evening Only
campfireTrees and plants often release pollen in the morning and afternoon and go dormant at dusk. Reserving your outside activities for the evening can help with reducing your exposure to pollen.

Change Clothes After Arriving Home
The outside world has environmental allergens and pollen the naked eye cannot see put ends up on your clothes. Change right as you get home and put your dirty clothes in the hamper and showering as soon as you get home also helps.

Our goal is to host one workshop a week which will always be on Tuesday. The workshop schedule will rotate from 10:30 AM, 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM for the community’s convenience. Please share with friends and family about us so that we can give more people the opportunity to buy and eat healthy! Local farmers need our support to keep providing us with all the fresh foods! If we don’t give them enough business, it’s hard for them to continue to deliver to us. Please let’s not let that happen! Tell your friends about us so we can keep the Growers supported as this is how they make their living. *_
