Benji has pork listed this week, Russell is listing butter again, Mandy is back with her baked goods, and Lisa has returned from jury duty! Nicholas occasionally has raw goat’s milk available outside of Tuesday Market. If you are willing to drop by the farm on days other than Tuesday, text him at 404-542-0981 to check on availability. He has an off-farm job too, so texting is better than calling.

Our bakers also make items I call “traditional breads” – Sourdough, Rye or Whole Wheat loaves, Kaiser Rolls, Focaccia, Brioche Nanterre, Challah, Scones, and a huge selection of bagels … not to mention Sylvan Falls Mill makes chocolate croissants! I have a serious addiction to potato chips, and chocolate. Sylvan Falls Mill’s Easter eggs were absolutely divine, I can’t wait to try their croissants (not that that has anything to do with potato chips)!

I plan to eventually eat my way through the entire Gwinnett Locally Grown Market. Someday!

Mother Earth Meats: Ordering and delivery is available for Mother Earth Meats this month! IMPORTANT NOTE: Delivery will now take place on Saturdays. DEADLINE FOR ORDERING IS THIS SATURDAY, MAY 17. Delivery will be Saturday, May 31. We are in the process of establishing a firm time for the drop, which is somewhat dependent on how many orders there are. It is quite possible MEM will be going to a 6-week order/delivery program rather than once a month, so you might want to consider ordering in bulk for your own freezer. We currently do not have storage space for six weeks…

As I write this, my husband is patiently waiting to take me shopping for bags of dirt. Two girlfriends spent their vacation here the past few days: we bought five shopping carts of plants at Grower’s Outlet, and I scored many large pots at estate sales so I can spend the day planting goodies in my new container garden. Yeah!!!!

MARKET NEWS
Lisa from Bo & Lisa’s Lil Patch wants to thank everybody for your business. She has jury duty this week, so none of her items are listed. Hopefully, jury duty will not last into the following market – she will relist when she can deliver again!

PRODUCT NEWS
We are entering the time of year when “add-on” may be available on a limited basis. This includes half gallons of Goat’s Milk ($6) and eggs ($5) from Pilar’s son Nicolas; herbs from their garden, and maybe extras from other vendors. I do have a few extra heirloom tomato plants. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will bring in a few.

Also, we have Duck Eggs ($3/half dozen) and Goose Eggs ($5 for 3) listed on market this week with a special introductory price. Sally (Treffynnon Farm) may also be adding chicken eggs this week while Lisa is out.

We have chicken listed again and are working with Tracy at Mother Earth Meats to arrange Group Buys. We are ironing out the details – delivery will be on a Saturday, rather than Tuesday, and we hope to also be able to keep offering by-the-piece through market. Our inventory is good right now, so if you were looking for it last week, we have it listed again. Our store was open for 600 Girl Scouts, leaders and parents on Sunday, and we have some left.

Tommy stopped by with more honey, so it is also listed. I thought harvest was late summer/early fall – so sorry about that, still thinking Ohio farming! He has harvested as early as April but this year’s weather is making things run a little late, but he should be in a few weeks!

MARKET NEWS
As I was leaving the farm Friday, work was beginning on the remodeling of the store. I am heading out today to have a “mini-market” for 600 Girl Scouts, leaders and parents. I have not been to the store, so I can’t yet share how the remodeling has gone, but be prepared for a new look on Tuesday!

Also of note is that I will be traveling to Ohio for my daughter’s graduation from Ohio State University next week. The blogs and email reminders may be very brief, so please be sure to shop the different categories to see what new things may be available.

FARM NEWS
Last week we hosted two days of field trips for students ages 5-7. There were five busloads on Wednesday and four on Friday. How exciting to teach young ones about how farms work, and how food is grown! If you have a class (or group) that might enjoy a trip, be sure to check out this page on the Rancho Alegre Farm website. Ordering ends with this market Monday morning. Green Pasture is THE source of fermented cod liver oil (liquid and caps). If this is a new product for you, please visit their website.

This Group Buy is a wonderful opportunity to order healthy products. When we offer another Group Buy is hugely dependent on if we have enough interest and participation, basically meaning – if there is very little, we will probably elect to drop this program.
