Market is OPEN!

The Market is now OPEN until Monday at noon!! Click here to order now!

Hope everyone had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend, and a great week so far. I have been very busy around the farm, trying to finalize this summer’s garden. I have noticed some of you have gotten seedlings from The Veggie Patch, I love gardening and would love to hear about all the exciting things going on your backyards/gardens. So please feel free to share, I’m always looking to learn and exchange information!

This week has been all about chickens for me, we have some new baby chickens at the farm and it got me thinking about pastured Vs conventionally raised poultry. The USDA has so many labels such as “free range”, “free roaming”, organic… it can get pretty confusing. Bill, our “chicken guy” does a combination of pasture and supplements with a non-GMO feed. His “girls” (as he refers to them) live in portable tractors out in the field and are moved to fresh pastures every day. The combination of pasture and feed leads to a diverse fat profile, higher Omega-3 content and reduced saturated fat/overall fat; not to mention they taste better. Chicken is one of the most versatile ingredients you can have in your freezer, not to mention a good and healthy source of protein. Head over to the market and check out Bill’s inventory!
